The words of Jesse Nevel are best for this: So here we are, white people. Youve checked every last ounce of your white privilege down to the marrow of your soul.... youve maxed out on unlearning racism workshops... youve devoured every article or blog piece you can find about the 12 ways you can be a good white ally.... youve picked about 5 of those ways to implement.... youve cursed out your racist uncle at thanksgiving dinner... youve done everything you can to oppose the racist ideas in your own head and the heads of white people around you.... and yet: that rotten thing called COLONIALISM remains unscathed by your efforts. Black people are still getting gunned down in the streets no matter how many times we re-read essays about an invisible napsack. We remain an oppressor population benefiting from the brutalization of the black community, residing in our perverse self-determined isolation on top of a mountain built from centuries of genocide, the stolen resources, labor and life of the oppressed. Africans continue to suffer under the gun of U.S. colonial domination. Colonialism is when your entire people are dominated by a foreign and hostile power. Its not that complicated. Its not an academic exercise. Its really, quite simple, and we dont have to guess about what our role should be, because the black liberation movement is voicing itself loud and clear: we have to take a concrete stance of material solidarity with the practical struggles of black people to overturn the system of colonial oppression inside the U.S. and throughout the world...we have to stand for reparations (Americas most dreaded word) not simply from the government, but from all of us, everyday white people, whose every dream and aspiration has been forged in the blood of billions of babies, women, children, and men. Watch Aaron Oneill of the African Peoples Socialist Party USA explain why the problem is colonialism, not racism. Think it through. Then contact the Uhuru Solidarity Movement and talk to us about joining. Email [email protected] or call 727 888 3797. Its time we go beyond being self -congratulatory allies. Its time for us to build a mass movement whose PRIMARY AGENDA is winning reparations and material solidarity from the white community with African anti-colonial resistance and the struggle for freedom and Black Power. STRAIGHT UP.
