There are communities in the United States that have become 90% No Kill. But it requires shelter leaders committed to these goals. Animal Services El Paso and their Animal Shelter Advisory Committee which Vise Chair Person is Betty Hoover Executive Director from Humane Society havent focus on a efective reform that means TRANSFORM. No Kill equation changes the way shelters operate and gives the animal loving public, local rescuers, volunteers an integral role in that operation. Unfortunately the control total of the Adoptions operations have been granted from El Paso City just to Humane Society who is receiving all the adoptions fees and revenues from this city shelter that is funded with taxpayers dollars, HS won the bid due to their infraestructure, obvioulsly none one of the local shelters can compite with a Millionare Organization facility, Actually in 2014 they have transfer 811 Dogs and 352 Cats, a total of 1163 pets free of charge which they sale and put all the income just in their organization, so this money never go back to benefit the communty that is paying for this animal control center, and comparing this numbers with the only shelthers that may can compete with them Animal Rescue League in 2014 they have took just 67 dogs and just 1 cat. Golden Retriever 3, Great Dane rescue 2, Misc. Adoption Groups 137, FTH transfer 1, No kill El Paso 46 (unknown year) . Which basically giving us and idea of the huge difference of participation of the rest of the local shelters, Unfotunatelly this partnership havent been enough to solve the massive amount of euthanizations. Until they give more participation and support to others rescuers nothing going to change. the city shelter is going to keep the same results and statistics over and over again.
