There are some interesting new laws that either have come into effect or are about to come into effect in North Carolina. The entire summary put forth by the School of Government is listed below, but here are a few that stood out for me: 1. Possession of Marijuana Paraphernalia -- your baggie, rolling papers, or pipe for the purpose of smoking marijuana is now not more serious than the possession of the marijuana itself as of December 1, 2014. This will be a Class 3 misdemeanor and will also be a lesser included charge of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; 2. There are various restrictions put into effect regulating the use of drones, both by the public and more importantly by law enforcement. Take a look as this will probably be a more common issue in the coming years; and 3. Adding to the somewhat ridiculous felony larcenies such as a dog, pine straw, and ginseng, the legislature has now added taking of venus flytraps to this list of felony takings regardless of monetary value. Apparently the venus flytrap lobby is quite strong in Raleigh. nccriminallaw.sog.unc.edu/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/2014LegislationCourtOfficials.pdf
