There are too many people today that sacrifice principle - TopicsExpress

There are too many people today that sacrifice principle routinely, then lament that there are no more statesmen. Statesmen stand on principle, pragmatists and lawyers routinely violate it for the sake of convenience or profit; is it any wonder America is in a steep decline since no one believes in or adheres to the rule of law anymore. There are still statesmen in America but no one wants them in positions of power, since they’re people that will say no to the demands of the mob when those demands contravene their duty, even if saying it results in them losing power. Men of principle adhere to their oath and believe in honoring their commitments; recognizing their accountability to something greater than themselves. I can tell that many people today believe that the political party of the person is much more important than character; that a man is honorable because he knows the right things to say, not what he does; that the end result justify the means to achieve it. If anyone is willing to brush aside the constitutional qualification of an office in pursuit of it, what will he do regarding the rest of the document? What other part of that document will he consider archaic and outdated? When he puts his hand on the Bible and swears to “… preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States of America.” will he be performing an honest act or betraying his oath in taking it? Barack Obama lied knowingly after giving pleasant platitudes to his base and look where we are today… If you support the same violation from a member of your party, are you any different than the Democrats you claim to oppose? America needs statesmen who obey the Constitution, not men that cater to the majority; men who will stand their ground in obedience to their oath despite the personal cost and sacrifice. Men and women who will consider it an honor to stay within the confines of the limitations imposed by the Constitution, because they understand the reason for those limitations and put our interests above their own while serving us in office. The offices of honor and trust in our government are offices of service to the people of America in the pursuit of securing our rights, not attacking them. Do people really believe there are no longer any Americans that can lead their country? Do you believe that there are no Natural Born Citizens of the Republic worthy of your support? If you do, then you don’t belong here because you do not support American principles and our laws in pursuance of them… even if you are yourself a Natural Born Citizen, your loyalty is elsewhere and your political beliefs are subversive to America. commonsensetome/2014/03/27/character-and-principle-in-office/
