There are two aims, long term aims, for Obamacare. 1) to cause, through burdensome rules and costs, the medical insurance business to collapse, and then to say were sorry, but the private sector couldnt get the job done, we didnt want to do it but now we have to step in, the government is now your health insurer, make your payments to us. 2) to cause, through burdensome regulation and cost control, lots of doctors to stop providing service, primarily to lower income people. Then, you guessed it, sorry folks, the private sector couldnt get the job done, we hate to do this but from now on all doctors are government employees, theyre salaried, they do what we tell them and see who we tell them to see, so you wont get screwed by evil rich doctors anymore. Oh, by the way, 70% of US doctors have resigned or retired, so were importing a bunch of trustworthy and capable doctors from Pakistan. Dont tell them youre Christians, we wouldnt want to offend them. The end result of Obamacare, if not opposed, will be government as the health insurer and government as the employer of doctors. Just like Britain, just like Canada. And, just like Britain, the Obamacare system will import doctors from countries with nominally acceptable medical schools because they will work for less. Nurses too. Then, just like Britain, all political races will be about who gets to be in charge of the single largest spending item on the budget for eternity. Health Care. The budget will increase and the quality and availability of the service will decrease. The best of the best wont be going to medical school anymore, because the rewards wont be worth the investment of money, time and effort. Same for nursing school. It will end up like the drivers license office or the post office. Government jobs handed out as patronage in return for political support. Even the NYT has to report this kind of thing. And its only just beginning.
