There comes a time in every persons life when they become stuck in their own personal mode of thinking; when their advancing age couples with generational angst and an inability to accept change. Its the time when people cling to their past and refuse to understand that time marches on and our lives get shorter every single day. When you refuse to accept new technologies or gadgets or reboots or realities because they dont line up with your own abilities or memories. You can either let yourself be mired in the past, huddled under a blanket of insecurity and fear of the unknown, or get over it and realize that every generation has somehow survived the apparent naivete or arrogance of the younger generation eventually taking over. Letting go of these terrors and anxieties will free your mind to live as an open-minded, forward thinking soul. Realizing that you are not the only era of humanity on earth charged with its survival may diminish your self-importance, but it will also humble you and help you overcome irrational thought and needless worry. On this day of reverence and reflection, encourage yourself to heal. As we enter the 13th year of a scatter-shot, boundless, endless war with an enemy that is a notion and not a nation, with our guns trained yet again on villains tucked away within shields of innocents, rise above the noise. Dont let the anger and fear overtake you. Dont allow the past to taint your mind in the present. Strive to be a human being, a citizen of planet earth, not a nationalist. Lets move forward.
