There has been a lot of so called button restoration going on which consists of rebuilding missing or damaged sections of buttons then basically aging it to look like a perfect specimen. While probably most of this is done without intent to deceive it hasnt been long before these have been hitting the market as pristine specimens. In some cases over 50% of a button is replaced with various resins etc.So far they have been easy to spot if you know what to look for, however, if not they can be dangerous. I suspect it wont be long until plain buttons are converted into something better. I invite anyone to show pictures of restored buttons here, before and after pictures , closeups, etc. BTW I am personally against these so called restorations . I only condone work to stabilize something from further deterioration. I would like to examine one to test it with various means like UV light, etc.
