There seems to be a significant misunderstanding regarding the basis of current conflict so I thought that it is important that I provide some lines from the Hamas charter, equivalent to their constitution. Perhaps this will shed some light as to why Hamas keeps attacking Israel and why Israel finds this perpetual situation intolerable. It is important to note that half of the Palestinian population is in the West Bank, which is not part of this conflict; so this conflict is specifically with Hamas, not all Palestinians like some people like to generalize. These excerpts come from a Palestinian website in case someone has any doubt in them being real. Note that it is basically a call to arms... Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it. the Islamic Resistance Movement erupted in order to play its role in the path of its Lord. In so doing, it joined its hands with those of all Jihad fighters for the purpose of liberating Palestine [all of the land of Israel] For our struggle against the Jews is extremely wide-ranging and grave, so much so that it will need all the loyal efforts we can wield, to be followed by further steps and reinforced by successive battalions from the multifarious Arab and Islamic world, until the enemies are defeated and Allah’s victory prevails. The prophet, prayer and peace be upon him, said: The time will not come until Muslims will fight the Jews (and kill them); until the Jews hide behind rocks and trees, which will cry: O Muslim! there is a Jew hiding behind me, come on and kill him! the so-called peaceful solutions, and the international conferences to resolve the Palestinian problem, are all contrary to the beliefs of the Islamic Resistance Movement. There is no solution to the Palestinian problem except by Jihad. They also continue with some of the classic and worst anti-Semitic rants based on the Protocols of Zion, one of the most anti-Semitic documents ever written. Sound like a partner you can make peace with? Sadly, Israel cant create a government change in Gaza, it is up to the Palestinian people to stand up to Hamas, even if they are scared of them, and say enough, we dont want you anymore, similar to what happened in other Arab countries recently...
