There was a Pharisee named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. He came to Jesus, at night, and said, Teacher, we know that Thou art a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him. In reply Jesus declared, I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again. Nicodemus asked, How can someone be born again, even after old? He can not enter a second time into his mothers womb and be reborn! Jesus answered, I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. What is born of flesh is flesh but what is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not be surprised by the fact that I have said that is necessary you be born again. The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but can not tell where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit. (John 3:1-7)
