There was a time when men were respected by women and children. Neither would openly insult, attack, and berate men. Men had control over their own house, which WAS his castle. There was never a time when it was ok to attack a man. Our culture has shifted. We now insist on high respect for women, and say it is never ok to attack a woman. And the same for children. The man has become the servant in his own home. Women and children are worshiped as doing no wrong in the media spotlight and in the justice system. I grew up watching the man of the house constantly being attacked, from biting insults, screaming and cussing, to actual physical hits and thrown objects from his wife. There was a world where that simply was not tolerated, where the woman would have been punished by law. I deal with a broken life, slowly putting it together because of this scenario, and it is even more difficult when I, as a man of integrity and honor am not respected in my own country. Where the media insults my intelligence should I venture to turn on a TV show, where men are cast as half wits or children to be patronized, and the ideal man is a submissive servant to the women and children. MY how things have changed! I simply was born in the wrong century.
