Theres a poignant story behind my first tattoo. 8 years ago this month, Matthew was diagnosed with asymptomatic stage 4 colon cancer, a diagnosis that assuredly meant death. If you knew Matt, you knew the strength, the grace, the laughter, the love he had through it all. Throughout the 51 months that he lived, he got several tattoos. The most significant of these were 3 blue stars on his left arm, a new one each year - symbolizing survival. He lived past 4 years, however he fell too ill to see the last star to reality. Today, I took his 4th star for him (on my left hip). A symbol of our forever tie, our journey through cancer, our love. I love you babe, mean it. As I used to tell him and smile - Death cannot stop true love, all it can do is delay it for awhile...
