Theres lots of discussions about what makes people stars as musicians. Theres that whole timing/luck/fate thing that people stand by as a reason certain musicians who have it all dont make it I keep hearing, they have the voice, the look, the talent, the drive, etc. . . It seems rare to me that within that discussion, people hardly say, they have the songs. Whenever I do hear that, the next thing I hear is, Theyre doing amazing! Lets go see their show! The songs are where you get a chance to show who you really are. The community of musicians as TECHNICIANS is wonderfully strong, but musicians as ARTISTS will always lead they way. The ones with the vision beyond stardom or fame. . . its the ones with fresh ideas and new ways of seeing things, and then showing the same things to you in an entirely different way. . .those are the ones to watch out for. So to all you MUSICIANS out there who want to stand out front and show the world what they can do: Sharpen your TECHNICAL skills and hone your craft as well as showing the listeners what the world looks like through your eyes, and you will do just fine. Being an ARTIST is having the courage to show the world who you are as a person while doing what you do. Be that.
