These amazing men and their rats are helping Mozambique! The mine action teams, with the help of the HeroRATs, have found about 3,212 landmines, 26,934 small arms and ammunitions and 1,077 bombs. Thanks to their hard work 8,926,980m2 of land was given back to local communities. https://facebook/heroRAT When we first came to Niassa Reserve in 2003, land mines were still being removed by the Halo Trust in many strategic places across the reserve. In one area around Mecula the team had worked hard to remove all the mines but still the communityrefused to use the area. Eventually the Halo team played a soccer match on the open ground to prove that it was mine free. Hats off to these de-mining teams!
