We, in the BCNDP, believe that responsible resource development must continue to fuel the BC economy,but not at the expense of diversifying and propelling our provincial economy toward a greener future. The tragedy at Mt Polley, the BC Liberal lacksidasical response and the abysmal record of deregulation leading to non-enforcement is destroying confidence in our industries. The social license is being torn apart by this failure to actively guard public interest. Now, it appears clear warning signs were ignored and information is not being shared. We need industry but we need our government to be looking over the shoulder, rather than in the hip pocket of companies. Christy Clark goes into corporate boardrooms to take her marching orders. John Horgan will defend the public interest and emerge with deals that benefit BC and protect our land, water and air.
