These beautiful portraits are being posted all over the net as if they are a prediction of what Americans will look like in 2050. (we should be so lucky) Those articles are BIG FAT LIES. These are actual people living in the US today, not some racist paranoiac fantasy about the future browning of Murrica. The National Geographic article from which they were taken is about how people of mixed ethnicity see themselves, an important consideration considering that between 2000 and today the number of people who check the Census box for Mixed heritage has gone from 6.8 million to 10 million, the fastest growing segment of the population. Not the bullshit that has been posted and reposted by bigots wailing over the fact that there is no such thing as white, black, brown, red, and yellow races; only humans. Only differing heritages separate us but these are facile, ever-changing, identities.
