They left me standing at the gate to Onamwandi, with balsak at my feet containing my entire worldly belongings, the Casspir disappeared down the road in a cloud of dust. I was 19 years old, shit scared and alone in a big dangerous wide world but somehow I had found my way back to where I thought that I was meant to be, I looked at the button to press the gate bell, should I or shouldnt I press it, I thought over and over, I nearly shat myself when a man came out and then I recognised him although I had only met him once before in my life during an interview that felt almost a lifetime ago. I nearly jumped out of my skin, but his soft calm somehow caring yet straight to the point rasping voice calmed me a little when he said, waar was jy ons wag al vir jou, kom saam met my, So meek and mildly I followed him into Onamwandi and knew that he was a man that I would be prepared to follow to the end of my days.
