They prophecy, but I did not send them, says the Lord. They speak lies in my Name, says the Lord. This is coming, they say...Gods gonna do this...Gods gonna do that. He is raising up this...Hes doing that. Get ready for a breakthrough, they promise. But the promises vanish like vapor, and at the end of the day...things are as they were. Oh ye of little faith we are told. Perhaps your lack of faith is holding us back. Perhaps you should tarry more...pray more...expect more...pay more. But one day leads to another, one week, month, year, one decade, then another....but the expectation never comes. Many prophets have promised the next big wave, but nothing seems to come. Pray more and more and more...but this often leads to guilt...and more guilt...and more guilt. This is a prison more harsh than any of brick and mortar. Turn away from the false hopes and hucksters of the world and turn to Jesus. He can set us free from the expectations of false hopes. Put your hope in Him. Trust in Him and His word, the Bible. Do the work that He calls us to do...preach the Gospel and disciple people...teach them the fundamentals of the Faith. Equip them and empower them to be disciples who can then reproduce the calling. This is our mission, and if we do things God will be glorified and His church will prosper.
