Things continue to unfold in Weed following the fire that has destroyed so many homes, churches and damaged the local mill and the elementary school. Tomorrow should be the organizational meeting to form a Long Term Recovery Committee. That Committee will work with local Non Governmental Agencies (NGOs) Community Based Organizations (CBOs) Faith Based Groups and of course city, county, state and federal departments. As usual, some just showed up thinking they would be of help. In reality they are adding to the disaster/crisis that people are already experiencing. For those of you who have contacted me and wish to serve, we should know more of what will be needed and what will be of the most help in the next week or so. For now, know that people are being fed and housed. The goal will be to help people clean up their property as well as rebuild where they are able and to help the local businesses to rebuild.
