The traditions of the olive harvest go back hundreds, if not thousands, of years, and, by now, the harvest is as important culturally as economically. For many Palestinian farmers, though, the last few years have been far different than the ones that came before. They won’t be harvesting their own trees this year. Instead, they’ll work on others’ land, paid from a fund to compensate Palestinian farmers whose trees have been destroyed by Israeli settlers. ...
