This Aging Michigan Outdoorsman is still hanging in there! Much - TopicsExpress

This Aging Michigan Outdoorsman is still hanging in there! Much like my faithful 1997 Chevy Silverado with nearly 300,000 miles, I need some major tune-ups. I go in for a heart catherization and inspection on June 12th, belly button hernia surgery on June 18th, spirometry lung function testing (I have COPD) on June 30th followed by my 1st appointment with my neurologist later on the same day. For those of you who havent heard, I have contracted a rare auto-immune disorder called Myasthenia gravis. This is what is causing my current double vision and drooping eyelids issues. Very inconvenient for this outdoor writer and sportsman! Ive been told that this and other muscular issues can be controlled with specialized medications. It appears that I am in good company. Sylvester Stallone (Rocky) and Aristotle Onasis both have been afflicted with this rare disease for years. They seem to be coping well and so will I! Per my doctors instructions, I have been taping my eyelids to my eyebrows to keep my eyes open and alternating patching one eye. I can see fine out of each eye independently...just not with both at the same time! Using just one eye results in some depth perception and coordination difficulties, but I can still punch holes in the target within a 1-inch group at 50 yards and roam the woods, waters, and swamps like any normal Bigfoot is meant to do! Since I cant shoot my cherished conventional bow instinctively at present, I have bought a new scoped Excalibur Axiom crossbow to fill our freezer with fresh venison this deer season. As soon as my eyes are straightened up, I will revert back to my old ways until I really get too old to do so. I will also get back to my normal writing routine. Right now, per doctors orders and reinforced by my wife Yvonna, my computer screen time is limited to 1 hour per day. Very confining for this writer!!! One more thing. My publisher has requested that I contact those who have read and/or purchase any of my books and request that you write book reviews on Amazon for each book. This will boost my presence on Amazon and encourage even more outdoors-persons to purchase my books! Just follow the instructions on Amazon for posting book reviews. I would really appreciate it! My time is almost up for today. Wish me luck! Joe Lunkas
