This Sunday we hear the story of Martha and Mary. Martha is preparing everything while Mary sits and listens to Jesus. Martha tells Jesus to basically tell her to get to work. Jesus reminds Martha that Mary is doing the higher thing by listening to him. Why come to church? We come to listen to Jesus speaking to us through the scriptures led by the spirit. Martha talking to Jesus is all about Me, Me, and Me. When we listen to Jesus, it reminds us of who we are. A child of God loved. We then can go out into the world and love others. There is often a disconnect between church and our everyday lives. However, our new food and clothing plant allows us to hear the Word and walk across the street to feed and clothe others and tell them about Jesus.
