This article really hit home and it is nice to see this topic recognized. As a kindergarten teacher I am usually baffled by the amount of people who think we still play with blocks, have sand tables, paint, and do crafts. Todays kindergarten classroom is held to high accountability. State and district testing is just as rigorous as a first and second grade classroom. I love what I do and when June rolls around I am always amazed at how far those tiny kiddos have come. But as a teacher who is held to those high standards and watching how hard these kids work it is frustrating when I get a look of oh you teach kindergarten. Kara Dimmich Meyer
