This conference on Mennonite women and theology looks - TopicsExpress

This conference on Mennonite women and theology looks interesting. But in my opinion the registration fee, for a 2-day event, is exorbitant. Why is it necessary to hold this conference in the suburbs, in the middle of nowhere, away from Mennonite population centers, making it more difficult to reach, especially for those who lead car-free lives? Why cant events like this be held in the facilities of friendly Mennonite churches, in locations that are accessible by public transportation, and where overnight hospitality is available in the homes of nearby church members? In this way, poor and middle-class persons could afford to attend also (not just those who have $350 to spare). For me, it would seem appropriate for Mennonite women theologians to discuss the theology of simplicity in lifestyle, and rejecting the way the world does conferences.
