This has to change. Its time to know and exercise our Constitutional Rights. We should also challenge laws which undermine our Constitution. Article 14(1) of our protect the rights to freedom of speech and expression, peaceful assembly without arms, and association. (a) every citizen of Singapore has the right to freedom of speech and expression; (b) all citizens of Singapore have the right to assemble peaceably and without arms; and (c) all citizens of Singapore have the right to form associations. But Article 14(2) of the Constitution states that Parliament may by law impose restrictions on the rights referred to in Article 14(1). This is arguably in line with Singapores adoption of the Westminster system of government that rests upon parliamentary supremacy, the rule of law and common law principles So is our Constitution really Supreme Law?
