This is a story im doing for class and im hoping its going to be good enough Its around 3am Monday morning, he had just arrived at home after working a straight 48 hour shift with no sleep and little to eat. At this point he is very exhausted from working the long shit and is ready to eat and get some much needed rest hoping and praying he does not get any calls to return to work. “Finally I am able to sit down and eat a good meal which I haven’t done in the past two or three days”, wipes his forehead of sweat, and sits down at the table to eat his dinner. After eating his dinner he makes his way upstairs to his bedroom for some much needed rest. After dozing off his phone rings, (ring, ring, ring) he grabs his phone looks at the missed calls, and says not again I just got off from working a 48 hour shift. He rolls over and falls back to sleep, the phone rings again he picks it up “Hello this is DR. Metrics may I help you”. Dr. this is Nancy Dickens from the E.R at Dog Stud Memorial, sorry to bother you this late we just had a patient come in by ambulance unresponsive, we need you in the E.R as soon as possible, “ Alright ill be there As Soon As I can” thank you DR. see you when you arrive. After hanging up the phone he throws his coat and shoes on and jumps in his car, driving back to the same place he just left about 5 hours ago. After arriving at the E.R, RN Nancy Dickens hands him the patients chart and he begins to look over the initial E.R report taken when the patient arrived. As he is looking over the report he asked the Nurse to start the patient on 50 cc’s of fluid, “ while you’re in there hook the patient up to a heart monitor and I’ll be in there as soon as I get done reading the chart.” After reading the chart he goes in the room where the patient is and notices that the patient has some lacerations on his left and upper quadrants of his body. He walks over looks down at the patient saying “Hi my name is DR Metrics and Ill be taking care of you while you are staying in the ER. The patient looks up at him saying please doc can you tell me what is going on why do I feel so funny. “ Can you tell me initially what brought you here into our ER,” It all started about 2 hours ago I was in my garage working on my vintage car when I felt a sharp pain in my chest, the next thing I know I waking up in here talking to you. “ Ok well lt me go see what I can find out and ill come back and let you know what I find”, ok DR. please hurry. Doctor metrics at this time is starting to think that the patient may just be suffering from angina. He orders a thorax x-ray or the lateral and bilateral of the thorax. After the patient has been taken up for x-ray, in come another patient with all kinds of sores covering her body. The patient is taking to a nearby room where is proceeds to go and assess the patent. He has dealt with this patient on numerous occasions but never has he seen the patient come in, in this severity before. He walks into the room, “hello Mrs. Jackson I noticed you have sores covering half your upper and lower extremities, would you mind telling me how this may have happen” honestly doctor I have no idea where these sores came from, I was hoping that you may be able to tell me. Scratching his head he turn around and says alright ill be right back. He goes out to the nurses station and tell the head nurse to go ahead and start the patient on some liquid Benadryl, because at this point he is starting to think that the patient may have contracted some sort of dermapathy. This is something that he has never seen in the 15 years that he has been practicing medicine. After checking on both patients he sits down to take a breather, “I can already see this is going to be another long one, but hey I love my job and helping and nurturing people back to health.
