This is by far the roughest time of the year for me. Unbidden my mind goes back to the three Christmas Seasons I spent in Vietnam and a kaleidoscope of images flash through my brain. Images that I try to keep buried. I can see myself and those I served with opening C-Ration meals as our families and friends open gifts and sit down to a huge holiday meal. Their decorations are a lighted Christmas tree while mine are tracers arcing in the night sky. My thoughts go to those who are currently serving our country and putting themselves in harms way and to the thousands who served our country and are now homeless. Homeless and Veteran should never be used in the same sentence, we need to take care of those who served to protect us. Last, but certainly not least, I think of those whose names are engraved on the Vietnam Memorial. My Brothers and Sisters who paid the ultimate price for our nation. This time of year is tough but Id do it all again without changing a thing. God Bless America and all those who wear the uniform. Past, present, and future.
