This is how crooked the other political party (BNP) in Bangladesh is. They drafted a fake statement purportedly from members of US Congress and circulated it to the international media. Khaleda’s “Special Aide” and party’s “Foreign Affairs Envoy” Jahid Sadi who released this to the media has served several terms in US prison for cheating and bank fraud. Ive always said they have the lowest journalistic ethics. A friend responded to me recently that Bangladesh needs a credible opposition and civil society. Unfortunately, those are the two things most lacking in Bangladesh. Instead we have goons in the other major party allied with fundamentalists and war criminals and a civil society that is always trying to drag every government down so they can come to power with the aide of the military. বাংলাদেশে অন্য একটি রাজনৈতিক দল(বিএনপি) কী ধরণের কুটিল হতে পারে। তারা মার্কিন কংগ্রেস সদস্যদের নামে একটি তথাকথিত বিবৃতির জাল খসড়া আন্তর্জাতিক সংবাদ মাধ্যমে ছড়িয়ে দিয়েছে। খালেদার বিশেষ সহকারী এবং দলটির পররাষ্ট্র বিষয়ক দূত জাহিদ সাদী যে বেশ কয়েকবার প্রতারণা এবং ব্যাংক জালিয়াতি জন্য মার্কিন কারাগারে ছিলো, সে এই কাজটি করেছে। এটি একটি গ্রহণযোগ্য রাজনৈতিক দল নয়, এরা হচ্ছে এক দল জুয়াচোর! bangla.bdnews24/bangladesh/article907954.bdnews এমনকি আরও হাস্যকর বিষয়, দুটি প্রধান পত্রিকা (প্রথম আলো এবং ডেইলি স্টার) যারা নিজেদের নীতিনিষ্ঠ বলে দাবী করে তারা এই সংবাদ প্রচার করে গিয়েছে এবং এখন পর্যন্ত কোন ধরণের সংশোধনী ছাপায়নি। আমি সব সময়ই বলে এসেছি তাদের সাংবাদিকতার নৈতিকতা সর্বনিম্ন রয়েছে। সম্প্রতি আমার এক বন্ধু প্রতিক্রিয়া জানিয়েছেন, বাংলাদেশে একটি বিশ্বাসযোগ্য বিরোধী দল ও সুশীল সমাজের প্রয়োজন রয়েছে। দুর্ভাগ্যজনকভাবে, এই দুটি জিনিসই বাংলাদেশে সবচেয়ে ঘাটতি রয়েছে। তার বদলে আমাদের অন্য প্রধান দলগুলোর জোটে কিছু গণ্ডমূর্খ রয়েছে, যাদের সাথে জোট বেঁধেছে মৌলবাদি ও যুদ্ধাপরাধীরা, এবং একটি সুশীল সমাজ যারা সব সময় সব সরকারকে টেনে নামাতে চায় যেন তারা নিজেরা সামরিক বাহিনীর সহায়তায় ক্ষমতায় যেতে পারে।
