This is long, but worth reading!! Thank you Katherine Morris :) Back to School Prayer Guide You can’t be there to make sure she finds a seat on the bus. You can’t be there to protect him from the bullies in gym class. You CAN find peace in knowing that God goes to school with them every day and He listens to your prayers. “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. “ 1 John 5:15 7:00 am- Going to School Take a few moments to thank God for your child or a special student you know. Thank Him for the special gifts He has given this child and for the plan He has for his or her life. Ask God for forgiveness when, in our rush to get out the door, we forget to acknowledge Him. Pray smooth morning routines, positive send-offs and safe transportation 9:00 am- Classes Thank God for the opportunities for education we are afforded in our country. Ask forgiveness for when we worship creation instead of the Creator and value knowledge over faith in God. Pray for the kindergartener trying to find his classroom and the freshman trying to figure out algebra- ask God to ease the anxieties of the students of all ages. Pray for students as they try to focus through distractions, discern right from wrong, and relate to peers and teachers throughout the day. 12:00 pm: Lunch Thank God for his promise to provide for our children- remember God is their Father too. Ask forgiveness for the times when we try to solve all of our children’s problems for them instead of trusting that God is in control. Pray for the health of students. Pray that they make good choices, good friends, and develop good attitudes for learning. Ask God to provide opportunities for you to minister to families of children living in poverty who attend your child’s school. 1:00 pm: Afternoon Classes Pray for stamina (especially for the little ones) and safety for students while they are in school. Take a moment to pray for the unshakable faith in your children that will give them the courage to take a stand for God in an increasingly corrupt world. 3:00 pm: After School Activities Pray for diligence, patience and discipline as students work to develop homework routines and become independent learners. Pray for discernment when scheduling afterschool activities when planning family time. Pray for the safety of children who are alone after school. Pray that the coaches and leaders of afterschool activities will be positive role models who set good examples for students. 6:00 pm- Dinner Thank God for the teachers and administrators, many of whom are just beginning the bulk of their work after the school day ends. Ask forgiveness for times when judge teachers or administrators based on gossip we hear. Ask God to provide time for your family to pray together Pray for wisdom for the teachers as they work to meet the individual needs of their students. Pray for wisdom for the administrators as they work to create safe learning environments for the students and teachers. Pray for good Home/School relationships. Pray for Christian teachers as they try to model Christ’s love in the mission fields of our schools. 8:00 pm- Day’s End Pray for wisdom and direction for parents as they make decisions for their families Pray for peace that only God can bring for families who are hurting. Pray for our church leaders that they will uphold their commitment to support parents in their efforts to cultivate a love for God and a true faith in our children. Ask God to provide opportunities each day for you to connect with each member of your family individually. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” Phillipians 4:6-7
