This is my first attempt at flash Fiction :-) The Visit The shrill of the phone startled Chloe from her sleep. Who’d be calling us at this hour? “Answer the phone, Jane,” she snapped irritably. The phone continued to ring. “Jesus Jane, I’ve got an appointment in the morning, I’m never going to get any sleep at this rate.” Finally Jane stirred, answered the phone and spoke quietly for a few minutes before hanging up. “So what was the urgency? Who was it?” Jane remained silent. Chloe frowned. Why is she ignoring me? Had she done something wrong? She turned over and looked at Jane’s tear stained cheeks. “Jane what is it? What’s happened?” she asked in a panic. It was then she heard a familiar voice. “Chloe dear, come with me and I’ll explain. Jane can’t hear you.” Chloe looked towards the figure at the foot of the bed. Her eyes widened. “Nan, I don’t understand, you’re dead.”
