This is no joke! Our DIs did this several times. Once was when a recruit had the top portion of a dirty sock exposed in the opening of a laundry bag. Another time was when part of a mop string got snagged by the foot of a bunk and the person who mopped left it lying there. It was done to teach the discipline that it is the little things that count, and in how as Marines you look out for each other. Now years later did I ever trash out a barracks? Nah, not me. Too easy-going.
