This is not a problem that will go away any time soon...and it - TopicsExpress

This is not a problem that will go away any time soon...and it will affect not only Japan, but seafood-harvesting and consuming people all around the world. Radioactive cesium is incredibly nasty stuff. Radioactive tuna, for example, have been showing up over a broad range. Time to start growing tilapia in your back yard. And allll because the companies that designed and built this plant (General Electric, Boise, and Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO)) failed to allow for the possibility that the water pumps would go out from being damaged during and earthquake and flooded during a tidal wave. In Japan. One of the most tectonically active--and earthquake vulnerable--spots on the face of the planet. Just so you know...to the best of my knowledge, ALL of the 104 currently operating nuclear power plants have design flaws, and the former chairman of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission has called for their shutdown in the immediate future.
