This is one of those organizational cluster@#%*s that drive me crazy. The Yanks had a number of these with pitchers over the years. A guy would come up and the Yankees would complain that he threw against his body (a known cause of arm injuries and short careers). This would infuriate me. The team had control of a guy for 5-7 years (and in the Yankees case frequently longer, because every geriatric alternative had to be considered before anyone under 30) and never addressed it. Who is to blame for this??? Its the same thing with Davis. He rocks in the minor leagues and comes up and did well for a time. When he struggles they tell us his swing wont work in the majors. Let me get this straight, they use a first round pick on this guy (if I recall correctly), and pay him first round money. Wouldnt it stand to reason that the day you sign him you inform him that you will be working to change his swing from day 1? Apparently not, since they waited years to address it, then they trade him for a 25 year old minor league relief pitcher who was exposed in the rule 5 draft and no one took him. Im sorry, but this is Garth Snow/Jim Dolan level stupid.
