This is so true. The Sony ATP 1000 has only been a disappointment for all this year. This is supposed to be with Indian Wells the biggest tournament after the 4 Grand Slams. This tennis tournament is living in the past, and it is getting worst by the year. Unfortunately and unlike Indian Wells who is gaining prestige each year, thanks to Mr. Larry Ellison, Miamis tennis tournament has been a flop. For the regular fan coming to Crandon Park: - Going through the Rickenbacker Causeway can be a challenge - Parking 5 miles away from the tennis site and having to spend an extra half an hour using old shuttles (seriously an old tv hanging was dangerously hanging over my head and A/C was leaking on me, which was quite pleasant actually LOL !) getting to the stadium is a pain ! Driver was asking for tips after everybody paid a $ 12 fee to park in the middle of nowhere. - Side courts have a very small capacity, sometimes less than 100 people ! - Seating is very uncomfortable, concrete for the side courts and cheap plastic for the main courts - It is a held in a public park after all but IMG who owns the tournament should know better. If Mr. Mark Mc Cormack was still here to witness this, with his passion of the sport and his acute business sense he will not be happy at all. - It can be hot and windy, ok but why not have more shady and protected areas for the spectators when they need to relax and cool off. - Difficult to know what is going on at the tennis venue since ticket holders are not given a simple sheet with the schedule of the day and court assignment. The main screen is old and lacks clarity giving the needed information - Huge blow to the tournament this year, both mens semi-finals where a no show from Nishikori and Berdych having to withdraw one for groin injury and the other with a stomach virus. Very unlucky indeed but red flag again to the tournament organization to leave fans hanging and refusing to reimburse any penny ! Ok it is in the policy, obviously in tiny letters than nobody reads. It should be a privilege to host the very best male and female players in the world with a chance to promote a fabulous region. Latin/South America and Asia, are dying to welcome bigger tennis tournaments see the very best in action, they have plenty of money to pour into tennis events, plenty of sponsors ready to jump in ! Acapulco for example which is only an ATP 500 for now with Telcel (Carlos Slims) as the main sponsor, is a tournament that you are so happy to follow. All is done for the comfort and the well being of the spectator. First class, u got to go ! Well wake up Miami, how can you not do any better with: - the participation of the best women and men players in the world - a prestigious location Miami, Key Biscayne Where is the fun, the SoBe atmosphere, the excitement. each tournament has its personality, Miami had none this year. Time for a big overhaul before it is too late ! -
