This is wonderful news for the future of the Great Northern - TopicsExpress

This is wonderful news for the future of the Great Northern Railway, which north of Werris Creek, has seen little in the way of freight train operations for some time. This proposal, if it comes to fruition as strongly envisaged and suggested by Tamworth Regional Council, will also see approximately the first 10km of the out of service Barraba Branch reactivated to a silo location known as Wallamore. That locality would appear to be between the former stations of Westdale and Gidley on the Barraba Branch. Whilst this development is yet a long way short of reactivating sections of the Great Northern Railway, north of Armidale, it certainly puts the northern half of that railway back on the map and would only strengthen the cause to progressively reuse sections of the out of service line. We previously touched on Westdale, on the Barraba Branch in this post: https://facebook/savethenorthernrailline/photos/a.530251770438608.1073741828.530204497110002/564963676967417/?type=1
