This issue keeps coming around in my world (as recently as this morning), so I am going to repeat it though I have posted it before: Do not confuse the long redemptive reach of Gods love, as sanction of the status quo that it reaches into. God can use anything offered to him in faith. Just because he can speak through a donkey, doesnt mean he wants us to act like one. Think: parent gladly receiving the scribblings of a three year old and proudly and gladly putting it up on the fridge. That fact that it is accepted does not mean that scribbling is the standard forever. If you are 21, in art school, and still scribbling, it is a different story . . . of course, with some modern art the metaphor breaks down! I hear stuff like this all the time used to deflect criticism: Well, God is greatly using and blessing XYZ so who are you to criticize what God is doing. Great, He may be. He is a great, good and gracious God. The problem is jumping to here: God is greatly using and blessing XYZ, therefore we at XYZ ministries are above criticism and the need to change. Israel learned the hard way that being chosen was not meant to inure them from criticism, or insulate them harvest that comes from resisting the call to stop what they were doing.
