This may sting a lil.... Psalm 23, verse 4. Ye, tho I walk thru the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear NO evil: for though ART with me; thy ROD and thy STAFF they COMFORT me. Thy ROD and thy STAFF......they COMFORT, not STRIKE, not PUNISH, not chastise me in any way. If we shall live by the word, live by it in completion. This is the symbolic staff referenced in most of our parents favorite quotation, "Spare the rod, spoil the child!" Unfortunately most of our parents didnt tend to look up the definitions of text they read, or they simply didnt know the definition. And factually, if you dont know the definition of a word, you arent interpreting it the way the society that it belongs to expects you to interpret it. Meaning you dont know what youre reading. Be honest with yourselves. I already have. The rod referenced in both of theses scriptures is NOT an object or tool of abuse. We misinterpreted, because we were bred to accept the perception of the whole commune due to the lack of time american life alots for people to better themselves and others around them, we accept what the majority says in order to not appear different or alone in your ignorance, as opposed to seeking the meaning of things in order to attain understanding. Basically if none of us kno the answer, we can all just agree on a conclusion so that we can all FEEL like we know. Instead of spending the little free time we have searching for truth, and missing fun party lifestyles and dreams. God is against any and all forms of abuse, so why would he make an edict that if you spare discipline by use of a rod, your child would be spoiled? Furthermore why would he speak of using a rod against the frail bodies and minds of his innocent, his incarnate angels? He wouldnt! The Lord is our shepherd, his ROD and staff is for our comfort, not our discipline. Even more so, why he ok use of a rod on a child, if he was speaking about discipline, he wouldnt have said use a rod. Maybe a strap, or even an open hand spanking for a childs skeletal system. Do you kno the damage a rod would do to the body of a child. Think with your heart, thats where the Father resides. A shepherd uses his staff to guide and gather his flock. When beasts of the field seek us as food, our father uses the staff to ward off the danger and protect us. If you were to be struck by the rod, as a sheep, you would fear the rod and its wielder and go astray. When you fight a man for his trespass against you, or when you get punished for whatever it is you had done did the physical abuse stop you from repeating the cause? Not at all! You know this because you did shit you got whooped for over and over. If so, all children will only have recieved one whoopin, instead of constant ass whoopins. If physical abuse stopped bad behavior, how come we have so many as whoopins, and repeat offenders? Because it doesnt work! Constantly whooping kids is like profuse use of profanity in casual conversation. You do it because you lack knowledge of a better method of communication. Or because you embrace ignorance as a wicked abomination. Now, spare the rod.... The rod is a tool used for guidance and protection, as symbolized by many scriptures in the bible. If you dont give your child/sheep guidance, and protect him/her from the mind pollutants of society, he will grow to be spoiled. And no not spoiled like a child who has grown use to getting his/her way. Spoil the child means, make them foul or rotten, or an abomination. This is because you control how your child interacts with the world by controlling what parts of the world to accept, adopt, and exspose him/her to. If you dont GUIDE and PROTECT your childs BODY and MIND, satan will surely overtake them. This is what the Scriptures mean! We have to accept truth, in order to re attain knowledge of our past. For the people who have no knowledge of their history are condemned to repeat it.
