This month marks my ninth year as a personal trainer, and I - TopicsExpress

This month marks my ninth year as a personal trainer, and I absolutely love working in the fitness industry! I get the opportunity to help people drastically change their lives for the better (e.g. a couple of my clients have lost nearly a hundred pounds - can you imagine?!). As trainers and coaches, we dont get prestigious titles and people sometimes consider our line of work not a real job. We can be on our feet all day long, lifting heavy weights to the point where its difficult to find energy for our own workout. Our schedules are inconsistent and crazy, at times starting at 6am and not ending until 8pm. Tim left a very successful job as an actuary and my graduation from Georgetown with academic honors opened doors for me, though we both decided we wanted to dedicate our lives to the service of others pursuing their fitness goals (because we believe being fit and healthy is an integral part of being happy). We both own our own personal training businesses, which means we do everything: our own accounting, marketing, and scheduling, along with all workout sessions. Like hairdressers, we are ready to instantly turn into counselors at any time. Its all worth it by far, however, when we get that sweaty hug at the end of the session after motivating our client to dig a little deeper and hit that next milestone. I mean, who gets messages like this one (below) with their paycheck? :) Weve met amazing people through our personal training careers, and we hope to one day open our own gym where we can motivate and inspire even more people!!! Three cheers for all my colleagues in the fitness industry!!
