This morning at about 4 AM I took off to Buffalo International to drop off one of my closest friends. Suddenly on route 33 before the airport there was a huge splash of debris all over the front of my car and into our side of the highway. As I looked back I saw what appeared to be a car spinning out. I quickly put on my hazard lights and told Chris I have to go check it out since we witnessed the accident. As I ran I called 911 and as I approached the car it became apparent that the driver was going to need an ambulance. The car was shattered and crushed far beyond anything I had seen. I went to the driver door and pounded on the glass to the driver who looked up at me. She wouldnt respond so I forced open the door to find that she was trying to restart the car. She was so drunk she wasnt even aware she had been in an accident. She even asked me to please close her trunk since it said it was ajar. As she appeared to be completely out of it, the cabin began to fill up with smoke and I reached in to unbuckle her. I grabbed her and pulled her out as another drive by ran up to help - instead I yelled that no one could see the car considering two had to brake so hard to avoid being part of the scene. He quickly backed his car up to shine his headlights on us. She was screaming and trying to get back in her car saying that she needed to go home before she gets into trouble. As police and emergency vehicles pulled up, I sat down on the guardrail shaking at the fact that this girl even got into her damned car. I was so angry that I threw up partially from running in the freezing cold air and all of the commotion. The police took my info and I was on my way. She was so lucky to not have lost her life this morning or caused the death of another. This is the second time Ive witnessed a drunk driving accident in two weeks. Why? Why is this even a problem...
