This morning on the way to work I stopped at Starbucks to get myself a pick me up... (I dont go very often)... so Im sitting in my car, waiting for my turn to order and Im just kind of letting life sink in and the realities of how precious life can be... so I get up to the box, place my order and then wait my turn to pay for my drink. I get to the window and hand over payment The guy tells me the person in front of you paid for your order. It took my brain a minute to process, cause Im slow like that, so I say confused what? he smiles and says the car in front of you paid for your drink. You dont owe anything. And hands me my drink... as I take it from him I process what he tells me and I get teary eyed and hand him my money anyways and ask him to apply it to the car behind me... I thank him and drive off... I know it was just a cup of coffee but the gesture was an act of kindness for a complete stranger and I cried at the simple fact that This person didnt know me.. they didnt ask me to return a favor.. they just did it to be kind.. I know it was just a cup of coffee but this wasnt about the coffee... it was about being kind and doing something good for someone even if they are a complete stranger because you never know what a person is going through and a small gesture like a smile, a hello or a cup of coffee can really make a difference in someones life... you dont have to buy someone a cup cup coffee to be kind... a smile or a hello is always appreciated
