This past Sunday night, I thoroughly enjoyed watching the Netflix video: Decoding Deepak, made by Chopras thirty-something son, Gotham. Ive never been much into pop gurus, but this movie gave me a greater appreciation for Chopra than I previously had. I love the paradoxes revealed here. A man completely dedicated to the cosmic aspects of the spiritual quest, but seemingly addicted to an incessant need to hear from his followers, via his Blackberry, Twitter or Facebook. A man devoted to the worlds enlightenment, but often absent from the life of his own children during their growing-up years (which, I believe, is the case with many of the worlds great mentors and leaders). A man who loves and cares about everyone he encounters, but who becomes mildly irritated with his own sons skepticism about spirituality and enlightenment. I especially love the snippet where Deepak tells his son he has NO ego, to which the latter replies: Yeah, RIGHT! What emerges is a portrait of a complex, multi-faceted, contradictory spiritual teacher. For that, after all, is the situation where ALL of us find ourselves :) https://youtube/watch?v=9cgPzKGoXQs
