This past weekend as I read some of the comments about the Zimmerman trial by some of my Christian friends on social media, I noticed a disturbing trend. Not just with them (Christians), but with those of our society also. That disturbing trend was an "us" verses "them" mentality. This is somewhat understandable in society, but in the Church? Have we failed to realize the only "us" there is is those who are Christians and the only "them" there is is those who are not? And the "them" are those we are trying to convert to the "us"? Galatians 3:26-29 "For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise." And may I add there is neither Black nor White nor Hispanic nor Asian...etc... When will we as a nation stop separating ourselves by skin color and become One nation? More importantly when will we as a Church? Our bigger concern aught to be about the souls of the Martin family and the Zimmerman family than some earthly justice. Regardless of your opinion about the incident and the verdict, God is still in control and He knows the truth. He is the ultimate fair judge and He will judge accordingly. If we truly believe that, it should not matter whether we believe there was injustice, because God will ensure fair justice is rendered.
