This photo is from Henry Rollins travelogue, Occupants. He commented to the the lady wearing the shirt and the man selling the shirt about the significance of the shirt. As Rollins put it, “I tried to explain to him the relevance of the T-shirt, but, like the woman wearing the T-Shirt, it seemed to have no meaning.” No shit Rollins. It does have meaning, not just what you think. We have gotten to this point where we put so much stock into our thoughts and actions, from a representative standpoint. But we need to get the same shock that Rollins got, which is that all the pontificating doesnt change anything for people on the ground. Yes, Black Flag was great. But that doesnt mean shit to someone in a third world country HUSTLING bootlegs of your image or brand to get by. You can say you understand and youre participating in the same struggle, but youre not.
