This time of the year is hard on our health (ever notice how many SWEETS and how much food in general is floating around November 1- Jan 1?). However, as a TOPS group, it is also a critical time of year, since our weight loss numbers for the year are turned in at the end of the year! So, in an effort to keep our chapter on the right track, we decided to have weekly challenges for the rest of the year. The first two weeks were keep a food diary at least 5 days this week. Some of you asked for the other challenges. I have them listed below. :) Week of: Nov. 18: Let water be your only drink (we are eating enough calories--we dont need to drink them too!) Nov. 25: Walk, walk, walk...go for a walk (or do an exercise dvd if weather isnt permitting) every day this week. Walk off that turkey! (its probably not the turkey, but the other stuff, that makes us wobble when we walk) Dec. 2: Give me 5. Eat at least 5 servings of fruits and/or veggies every day. Sadly, if we dont focus, we could find our selves eating 5 servings of pie. NOOOooo! Fill up on the healthy stuff! Dec. 9: Go to bed. Set a bedtime today and get in bed in time every day this week. Dont run yourself ragged. Thats not healthy. Plus, when you are too tired, you tend to overeat. zzz Dec. 16: No sweets. Chances are, NEXT week (and possibly even this week) you will be somewhere that has a lot of junk available to eat and everything will be festive and your guard will be down. Lets do without this week, to help offset any bad decisions that be made in the name of ho ho ho next week. NO SWEETS THIS WEEK! It wont be easy. Only the bravest will survive. But YOU can do it....if your WANT TO is bad enough. Come on. Lets do this. Dec. 23: ho ho ho. This may be the hardest week of the year to be healthy! We tend to put everything else on the back burner this week, including taking care of ourselves. This week, all Im asking is that you start your day with a HEALTHY BREAKFAST. Hopefully, this will set us on the right path each day. In case you are wondering, no, peanut brittle is not a healthy breakfast. :) Dec. 30: Fruitcake! Minus the cake. Eat at least one piece of fruit each day this week. :)
