This video provides some new food for thought or perhaps just an extended focus on this topic and some imagery that drives the point home... My thoughts on social media use... I am definitely connected with more people because of social media than I otherwise would be since I am mostly a homebody these days. My friends and I have VERY deep conversation through social media. So, there is no lack of depth just cuz its through a computer. Ive developed many very deep friendships through FB. But, yeah, as long as youre not doing that when youre with people in person (then you are def being anti-social!). Yesterday, I was waiting for a friend to try on clothes. There was a guy also waiting while his g.f. tried on clothes. Because he was looking down at his phone the whole time, there was a missed opportunity to notice each other and, perhaps, even strike up a conversation. Maybe social medias best used at home when there are no other people around. If we are in public, we can focus on being still which allows a space for the people around us to connect with us and us with them. I am not trying to say everyone should do this. I am not trying to should on anyone. What others do is whatever they do and its all good. Just exploring my preferences of how *I* want to use social media.
