This year I will be working with Clean Water for Haiti, a Christian humanitarian organization that provides a resource for clean water. During my tenure last year, one of the most tragic observation was the lack of potable water. There is a serious water shortage in Haiti; yet, that is not what bothers me the most. The worse thing is that clean and safe water for human consumption is a possibility with the water filters that are made and installed by Clean Water for Haiti, if only these poor villages can be reached. This is what Clean Water for Haiti is able to do - supply clean water resources to those that have none and dont have the capability to do that. More than 5 million people are living without clean water in Haiti, and they are also the poorest of the poor. 1 out of every 8th child will die before they reach the age of 5. These numbers are shameful and hard to fathom. I am excited and blessed to have the opportunity to work with this organization and to be that bright spot in someones life - to be that person that shows a family that they do matter and to provide the help and support they need to have the most basic and necessary thing for life - clean water. I have included a few photos here of how water is collected in Haiti. These are an excellent sampling of the people I will be serving in Haiti.
