Thomas Sowell said, Socialism in general has a record of failure - TopicsExpress

Thomas Sowell said, Socialism in general has a record of failure so blatant that only an intellectual could ignore or evade it. Sowells perception is mine, as well, in general, of many self-ascribed intelligentsia. Or, as Paul put it, Professing to be wise, they were made fools, in Romans 1:22 (Youngs Literal Version). Many of those who errantly believe themselves to be superior intellectually, by merit of: their ability to memorize what is taught by others and to align with prevailing thought; their conformity to conventional wisdom; or any of what they perceive to be superior intellectual characteristics, actually often become fools. As once one believes they have the answer, they often become subjective, if they are not willing to objectively review and consider all facts. When one becomes subjective they lose sight of all facts and filter to accept only facts that align with their subjective reality. In this, they become intellectually blind. We see this often in politics, economics, education and all areas of life. I have seen it often in business. Subjectivity often leads to arrogance. There is nothing more foolish than one who sees themselves as an intellectual, who is arrogantly subjective, and thus intellectually handicapped. They are often of lower emotional IQ, as well, spouting what they believe to be intellectual views but are, in reality, foolish nonsense. Sowells view of self-ascribed intellectuals who promote collectivist ideologies--missing completely their blatantly obvious failure and horror--is sadly accurate.
