Though writing from one of the world’s worst prisons in his time, Paul the Apostle teaches us that shyness is a dangerous pre-occupation as it leads to depression and lack of enthusiasm because it inevitably makes its possessor focus on what’s wrong in his life instead of what’s good. An attitude of gratitude is foundational to all happiness in life. Little wonder, David said “seven times a day do I praise thee…”Psalm 119:164. Interrupt your day with praise as this preoccupies your mind with God, and change your focus from what’s wrong to what’s possible. The strength you need to overcome and the attitude you need to keep moving forward can only be cultivated in a climate of continual thanksgiving. In this kind of environment, your faith will grow, your focus on the positive will be sharpened and your whole life will be blessed the more. Even as young person, you may not always be able to control the things that happen around you, but you certainly can control how they affect you. An attitude of praise brings God’s light into the dungeons of life, and indeed, nothing irritates Satan, the enemy of our soul, more than a heart full of praise. So, live a life of gratitude.
