Thulasi & vilvam* If u closely observe these plants ( uncut / natural growth ) Vilvam grows in a group of 3 leaves in any branch. Thulasi plant branches from the main trunk in fixed manner . At intervals & at the same point 2 branches shoot in exactly opp directions ( say north/south at a point & say east/west in the next level above ) This ensures the adjoining branches are at rt angles and there by avoids clashing withone another. This is a nature growth. Generally the angle between main branch of a tree & its trunk remains constant in each species and the same angle is found between principal vein of tree leaves & its susidary branching. there are 2 nakshtras start with Thiru ie Thiruvonam ( vishnu) - Thiruvathirai (Siva) *Visnu in cool* parkadal (milky ocean) and so we *offer thulasi the hot* *.* *Siva with hot* buriel ground ashes & so we offer the* vilvam the cold one* (to nulify effect) Rudraksha Sankarachariar says that when the variar while doing namaskar his whole body touches the earth ; his Rudraksha garland on his neck will also touches the earth. *The sacred Rudraksha symbol of Siva should not touch the earth.*
