It’s even more critical on a day that you’re competing. Emily Harrison, a dietitian at Atlanta Ballet’s Centre for Dance Nutrition, recommends a blend of carbohydrates and protein. She advises sticking with whole grains that will keep you fuller longer. In other words, skip the Cheerios. Whole wheat toast topped with an egg, nut butter on apple slices, or a cup of oatmeal and a hard-boiled egg are quick and easy ways to jump-start your day. Add fruits like cantaloupe or watermelon for a little sugar and hydration.
