To all my Facebook friends that are carrying their own health insurance. Beware of your insurance company pushing you to do an early renewal for December 1 before the new Health Care Reform so you can get a guaranteed rate now. Get the facts in writing about what that means to you and not second hand from someone you spoke to on the phone. For one thing your deductible will start over again for December first if you carry a high deductible and have met it for the year this is crucial to know, with my insurance company they gave me a new rate to renewal early and said I could change my mind by Dec. 1 and go back to the Jan 1 renewal date if I found out that the newer rates would be lower but when I sent an e-mail to the company they told me that it was true but if I changed my mind they would not be able to generate the old renewal for Jan.1 this would be I would be uninsured. Does anyone but me think this sounds illegal in some way. Very sleazy indeed. So my advise is get the facts in writing directly from your insurance company and print it out. You may need it.
